This third installment of the 30,000 B.C. Chronicles is a compilation of journal entries and voice transmissions created by survivors of a shipwrecked scientific expedition sent back 32,000 years in time. Gibraltar picks up the narratives roughly 18 months after The Team’s stealth trimaran splashed down in the Atlantic Ocean during a moist pause in a glacial age.
After making landfall along the coast of what is now France, the highly trained crew of 97 was decimated to six within two weeks and whittled to four within a year. Cast headlong into a prehistoric world without support or modern tools and weapons, the survivors quickly ingratiated themselves within the local population of Early Modern Humans, Cro-Magnon.
In this installment, our four modern explorers have embarked for the ice fields of the far north. Their native mentor, the storyteller Gray Beard, has offered proof of his interaction with previous time explorers. His walrus tusk carving depicts the Einstein IV, a new-generation timeship. The storyteller claims the rescuers arrived at least 35 years early and eventually became shipwrecked on a riverbank along a northern coast. To keep peace within their adopted Green Turtle clan, the four surviving Team members have split forces to travel by two very disparate routes. American Captain Juniper Jones and Italian Corporal Salvatore Bolzano journey overland, traveling north with the clan on a route that will take them through what is now France. Chief Botanist Maria Duarte and recreation specialist Paul Kaikane have committed themselves to an ambitious voyage around the Iberian Peninsula. The American couple intends to sail 3,500 miles, from Provence, through the Straights of Gibraltar to a rendezvous point on the Atlantic coast of Brittany, but their journey is fraught with danger.

This series holds my interest... It is intelligently written, has a strong plot and spends enough time describing the surroundings, the inhabitants and their culture and the flora and fauna to give you immersion in the "time period". I was skeptical initially because of the graphics on the pictured book cover, as it reminded me of a Conan the Barbarian scenario, but was relieved and immediately drawn into the plot upon beginning to read. The author has also developed some great relationships between the characters that are as good as those depicted in the Gabaldon book series, which makes the characters seem like old friends in each successive book. You will not regret reading this, and could actually start with any book in the series, but you will get the "full picture" if you start in the beginning.Product details

30000 BC Chronicles Gibraltar eBook Matthew Thayer Reviews
great book and series, fun to read
This is an awesome story, very well written and I can't wait for the next one!!!!!
Great storyteller, able to paint a detailed picture in your mind while keeping the story moving forward. Buying book four right now )
Each book in this series is just as good as the last. The story is wonderful and the twist in this one bringing in more bad guys solves my concern the plot would falter after they sorted the bad guy that came back with the team.
30,000 BC Chronicles Gibraltar continued on from book two without missing a beat, and kept the pace throughout the entire book. The diversity of characters, parallel travels and the constant movement of the different groups keeps the excitement levels up. Matt Thayer has a vivid imagination, and gives depth to his characters and the circumstances they find themselves in. I have read all three of this series several times, and give this trilogy Five stars. I anxiously await book Four.
Please read series in order, otherwise you will be doing yourself a disservice and go back and read the first 2 anyways. The entire series is good but this left me wanting to turn the next page and read all night. Very interesting and characters are more developed as the series progresses. Hurry up with the next one.
"Gibraltar" is an excellent installment in this series, with the same vivid imagery that I have learned to expect from Mathew Thayer's paleolithic world. There is a lot of action, suspense, and unexpected revelations that keep the series fresh as it unfolds from one book to the next. I will definitely continue reading this series, and think this the best book in it, so far !
